The fact that people, especially ones who aren’t straight edge, feel like they have any place to tell me that I’m wrong for not being totally into bands like Minor Threat, Earth Crisis, Youth of Today and the like, really piss me off. Like come on now. I am completely aware that straight edge started in the hardcore scene, I wouldn’t claim edge if I didn’t know its roots. But just because I don’t get down to Minor Threat everyday does not change the core values that go into being edge. At the end of the day, being straight edge comes down to living a clean and sober life, for life. Regardless of what music you listen to. I chose to be straight edge for me. Not to please anyone else, not because I thought it was cool or trendy, but because it’s the way I want to live MY life. I’m not trying to come off as some hardline edge bitch but it’s when people are so ignorant about this lifestyle is when I feel the need to speak up.
I don’t try to correct you on the way you live, so don’t try to correct me.
